2010 Hermes Award

MarCom Award


The 2010 Annual Conference & Exposition  brochure received a Hermes Platinum Award. The conference theme Communities: Inside and Out was portrayed by an older man juxtaposed between an interior and exterior space. The judging results earned
the publication the highest honor by awarding it a platinum Hermes. 

Hermes Creative Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international competition for creative professionals consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production, web and free-lance professionals.

The official newsjournal of Aging Services of California, agenda received a Hermes Gold Award. agenda is published monthly to inform readers of news, innovations, policies and regulations related to aging issues and to senior living and care. The award recognizes the importance of this monthly magazine whose readership includes association members, healthcare professionals, government officials, educators and the media.

Hermes Creative Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. It is an international competition for creative professionals.

Aging Services of California received a prestigious Gold Award from the International Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals. The 2009 MarCom Award is for Media Takes: On Aging a styleguide for journalism, entertainment and advertising, which was developed in partnership with the International Longevity Center -USA. The award is a distinction presented to less than 18 percent of the more than 5,000 entrants in the international creative competition.

MarCom Creative Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication practitioners. Industry professionals judge and select award winners. Awardees set the standard for excellence in the communications, public relations and marketing field.

2008 EMMY Nomination

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated Age is Just a Number.

The selection for outstanding achievement in Community/Public Service television comes from the San Francisco/Northern California chapter, which represents television and cable stations from Visalia to the Oregon border as well as Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. 

The Aging Services spot, created by New York-based Pilotfish Productions, features famous and "ordinary" people who've lived long and extraordinarily accomplished lives. For example, "John Glenn returned to space at 77"; and "Stan swims a mile every day at 82." As part of the association's "Aging is an Active Verb" public education campaign, the message is aging is a process we all experience rather than a label placed on the old and frail. 

The PSA premiered in June 2007 and was included in the community service rotations of 20-30 stations across the state, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars in free airtime.

National Mature Media Award


The national Mature Market Media Awards honored Aging Services of California in this year's annual competition, which recognizes the best advertising, marketing and educational materials targeting those who are 50 and older.

The award was for the publication Before the Age Boom Goes..., a compendium of essays by 20 national authorities. The project was distinguished from more than 1,000 entries for its excellence.

The national Mature Market Media Awards recognized "Inside Alzheimer's: Portraits of the Mind." The event consisted of two art exhibits, one at the California State Capitol and the other at a reknown Sacramento gallery, showcasing the compelling work of William Utermolhen.

The annual competition recognizes the best advertising, marketing and educational materials targeting those who are 50 and older. The project was distinguished from more than 1,000 entries for its excellence.

Aging Services is one of only 15 entries selected for recognition by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Center for Association Leadership's 2008 Honor Roll for "Aging is an Active Verb." This national awards competition recognizes associations that propel America forward with innovative projects.

"Aging is an Active Verb" campaign has been named to the Association Advance American 2008 Honor Roll for its contribution to public education. The campaign seeks to redefine "aging" as a life-long process everyone experiences rather than simply a label applied to older individuals. As it specifically translates to the association's members, the message promotes senior living and care as viable opportunities and choices to ensure the aging experience is healthy, independent and active.

Aging Services of California receives a Platinum Ava Award for the "Age is Just a Number" public service announcement. This recognition is the second international award for the spot.

The international Ava Awards recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, direction, shooting, and editing of audio-visual materials and programs.

Ava Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, and free-lance professionals.

"Age is Just a Number" TV PSA earns international award.

For the second time in as many years Aging Services of California earned a prestigious Gold Award from the International Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals. The 2007 MarCom Award for Aging Services' 60- second "Age is Just a Number" television public service announcements is a distinction presented to less than 18 percent of the more than 5,000 entrants in the international creative competition.

The TV PSA was written, produced and directed by Pilotfish Productions from New York City and supervised by the association's communications department.

MarCom Award  

Aging Services of California received a 2006 MarCom Creative Award for “New Identity Development.” Aging Services entered a portfolio of material chronicling the name change from California Association of Homes and Services for the Aging to Aging Services of California for this competition.
