Application Information and
Guidelines
The Aging Services Scholarship Program fund gives members an
opportunity to attend Aging Services programs and education events who otherwise would be unable to
participate because of financial limitations. Aging Services’ Scholarship Subcommittee make all scholarship
decisions. The following criteria and selection process shall be used in selecting education scholarship
recipients:
-
Applicants must be employees, residents, or trustees of RCFE, CCRC,
MLRC, AL, SNF, HCBS, or Housing Aging Services members, or student members pursuing a graduate degree in
aging services, or students/individuals working in a recognized vocation/internship program with a Aging
Services member;
-
The applicant's facility may not be receiving reduced dues;
-
The scholarship amount may not exceed the total AAHSA/Aging
Services dues paid;
-
Only one applicant per member facility may be considered;
-
Applicants must have administrator or supervisor's approval to
apply;
-
Established application deadlines must be met;
-
Exceptions shall be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Fund Availability
Aging Services Scholarships are limited to one scholarship, per facility, every
other fiscal year (July 1-June 30) based upon funds available. Scholarships may be granted for only a
portion of the total amount requested.
Scholarship consideration shall be based on the following in order of
importance:
- Applicants affiliated with new Aging Services members,
- First time applicants,
- Second and subsequent applicants affiliated with a member where another
individual has received a scholarship,
- Applicants who have received a scholarship while affiliated with the
same member,
- Applicants who have received a scholarship while affiliated with a
different member.
Application Process
Upon receipt of application, Aging Services will send a letter or fax
acknowledging receipt of the application, along with the date when decisions will be made. Each applicant
also will receive a letter informing him/her of the decisions. Aging Services will ask for permission to
use the recipient’s name in further promotion of the scholarship fund and request feedback from scholarship
recipients regarding their conference experience. Scholarship recipients will be encouraged to share their
knowledge gained from the conference at region meetings or other appropriate Aging Services educational
forums.
Deadlines established on the application will be observed.
