Resident Advocacy Day

Affordable senior housing residents are invited to return to the Capitol to share their housing stories with legislators in an effort to raise awareness of the senior housing crisis and advocate for increased funding to address it.

Schedule:

The day will begin with residents arriving via member community busses to the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento, for check-in between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be provided at 11:30 a.m. where residents will have an opportunity to connect with other senior housing residents. After lunch, advocates will advance to the Capitol building, armed with personal stories, feelings of empowerment, and very large buttons to demonstrate solidarity and draw attention to the need for a permanent source of funding for affordable housing. Advocates will attend two meetings with legislative representatives between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
